The context
Centre Jean Perrin, a comprehensive cancer center (CLCC) in Clermont-Ferrand and a member of Unicancer, has more than 900 staff and treats 33,000 patients a year, with 157 inpatient and day-care beds. Facing highly complex PMSI rules and stretched resources, the center was looking for a simple approach to identify revaluations without adding to the workload of the Medical Information Department (DIM) or the IT department.
The solution
Parallel’s AI agents focused on 3 tasks:
- Strengthen the valuation of acute care (MCO) activity through more complete PMSI coding, without adding to the DIM or IT workload
- Identify revaluation opportunities on stays that had already been coded (retrospective analysis)
- Test a turnkey AI approach that can be built into the DIM’s routine
Results
- €2,800 average revaluation per stay
- +€600,000 in projected annual revaluations
- 60% validation rate
« We were able to identify significant revaluation opportunities without adding to our teams’ workload, and to build them into our coding routine and our discussions with clinicians. The approach is effective and reliable, and it complements our DIM expertise. »
